Arts & Culture

The Lettie Pate Evans Foundation recognizes the importance of arts and cultural institutions to creating a vibrant community and attracting economic development. Mrs. Evans was a patron of the arts and made generous gifts to organizations like the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, where she served as trustee.

The Foundation’s investments in arts and culture make up a small part of our average grants portfolio (see graph). In general, the Foundation makes capital and capacity-building grants to arts and cultural organizations with significant audiences, strong leadership and sound financial operations. Arts and cultural institutions in Virginia are considered for grants only if they received support from Mrs. Evans during her life.
