    • James B. Williams

      Chair

      James B. Williams spent his entire career with SunTrust Bank, serving as Chairman and CEO from 1991 to 1998. He served as a director of The Coca-Cola Company from 1979 to 2013, and chaired the board of Emory University’s Woodruff Health Sciences Center for more than 20 years. Mr. Williams has served on numerous boards, including the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, Genuine Parts Company and Georgia Pacific Corporation. He is currently a director of Rollins, Inc., RPC, Inc. and Marine Products Corporation. He is a graduate and trustee emeritus of Emory University.

    • E. Jenner Wood III

      Vice Chair

      E. Jenner Wood III is the former Corporate Executive Vice President of SunTrust Bank. His civic responsibilities include the Jesse Parker Williams Foundation, Sartain Lanier Foundation and Camp Younts Foundation. He serves as a director of Genuine Parts Company, Southern Company and Oxford Industries, and is a former director of Crawford & Company. Mr. Wood is a member of the executive committee of the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce and has been a trustee of Agnes Scott College, Episcopal High School, Atlanta Speech School, Trinity School, Visiting Nurse Health System and Piedmont Healthcare System. He received a bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill and an M.B.A degree from Georgia State University.

    • Dr. Herbert A. Claiborne Jr.

      Dr. Herbert A. Claiborne Jr. practiced general obstetrics and gynecology at St. Mary’s Hospital in Richmond, Virginia for many years. He is a fellow of the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the American College of Surgeons. He is a former chairman of the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts Foundation and the Medical College of Virginia Foundation. He is a former trustee of the Virginia Historical Society and the University of Virginia Medical School Foundation. Dr. Claiborne graduated from the University of Virginia.

    • Lawrence L. Gellerstedt III

      Lawrence L. Gellerstedt III is President and CEO of Cousins Properties. He serves as chairman of the Jesse Parker Williams Foundation and is a director of the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce, the Atlanta Committee for Progress and the Georgia Research Alliance. Mr. Gellerstedt has also served as chair of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, The Commerce Club, Fernbank Museum, the Metro Atlanta YMCA, Midtown Alliance and the Woodruff Arts Center. He is a graduate of the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill.

    • Wilton D. Looney

      Wilton D. Looney served as Chairman and CEO of Genuine Parts Company from 1961 to 1990, guiding the company’s growth from $34 million to more than $3.4 billion in sales. He first joined the company as a clerk, then rose through the ranks to become president at the age of 35. Mr. Looney has served on numerous corporate boards, including Rollins, Inc., RPC, Inc. and Marine Products Corporation. He has also served on several civic boards, including The Lovett School and United Way of Metropolitan Atlanta.

    • Carrie Davis Conway

      Carrie joined the Foundations’ staff in 2014. She previously served as Executive Director of the Southeast Region for CARE USA, and has 10 years of experience working in development in the higher education sector. Carrie graduated magna cum laude from Duke University with a B.A. degree in history and received an M.A. degree from St. John’s College.

    • Evi Green

      Executive Assistant to the President

      Evi joined the Foundations’ staff in 2014. She previously worked in an administrative capacity at SunTrust Banks and its predecessor banks for more than 30 years. Evi earned her B.S. degree in computer information systems from DeVry Institute of Technology.

    • P. Russell Hardin

      President

      Russ joined the Foundations’ staff as Secretary in 1988, became Treasurer in 1989, Vice President in 1994, and President in 2006. Prior to joining the Foundations, Russ practiced law with King & Spalding and was associated with the Robinson-Humphrey Company. He currently serves as Chairman of the Foundation Center, trustee of Northwestern Mutual and director of the Commerce Club of Atlanta. He is a former board chair of the Southeastern Council of Foundations. Russ received his B.A. degree with high distinction from the University of Virginia in 1979, and his J.D. degree with honors from Duke University School of Law in 1982.

    • Erik Johnson

      Secretary and Treasurer

      Erik joined the Foundations’ staff in 2006. He previously served as a law clerk to Chief Judge J.L. Edmondson on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. Erik is the former Chairman of the Georgia Grantmakers Alliance and serves on the Public Policy Committee of the Council on Foundations. He earned his B.A. degree from Emory University in 1998 and his J.D. degree with high honors from the University of Georgia’s School of Law in 2005.

    • Joan McKelvey

      Lettie Pate Whitehead Foundation Administrator

      Joan joined the Foundations’ staff as Receptionist in 2006 and has served as Administrator of the Lettie Pate Whitehead Foundation since 2008. She previously worked as a medical assistant/front office manager in an orthodontist’s office, assistant secretary to speaker and author Larry Burkett, and a benefits bookkeeper for the Life of Georgia Company. Joan received an associate degree in business education from the University of Georgia.

    • Jenny Morgan

      Grants Officer

      Jenny joined the Foundations’ staff in 2013. She previously worked as an account executive at the marketing communications firm Jackson Spalding. Jenny serves as Communications Chair for the Southeast Chapter of PEAK Grantmaking. She graduated summa cum laude from the Georgia Institute of Technology with B.S. degrees in Psychology and Science, Technology and Culture.

      Marti joined the Foundations in 2003 as Assistant Controller and became Controller in 2007. Prior to joining the Foundations, she served the Junior League of Atlanta as its accountant for nine years. Marti attended Mercer University and received a B.B.A degree in accounting from Emory University.

    • Lizzy Smith

      Grants Program Director

      Lizzy joined the Foundations’ staff as Grants Officer in 2005 and became Grants Program Director in 2011. She previously worked for the fundraising consulting firm of Coxe Curry & Associates for more than seven years, and also served as Director of Special Events for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in Raleigh, NC. Lizzy is a former trustee of the Southeastern Council of Foundations and a past chair of the Foundation Center-Atlanta Advisory Board. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a B.A. degree in economics.

    • Sarah Tablan

      Assistant Controller

      Sarah joined the Foundations’ staff in 2007 after working for six years with accounting firm Smith & Howard as a tax accountant, with a focus on real estate transactions and exempt organizations. Sarah earned her B.B.A. in accounting and master’s degree in taxation from Georgia State University’s Robinson College of Business, where she graduated with high honors. She is a certified public accountant.

      Katrina joined the Foundations’ staff in 2017. She previously served as Vice President of Corporate Accounting at Quadrant Real Estate Advisors and as Tax Manager at Windham Brannon. Katrina earned her master’s degree in taxation from Georgia State University and a B.A. degree in French literature from Emory University.

      Tammy joined the Foundations’ staff in 2008. She previously worked as an equipment supply coordinator at Coca-Cola Enterprises and as an HR assistant at Emory Healthcare. Tammy earned her B.A. degree in business administration from Talladega College in 1993, and her M.A. degree in Marriage and Family Therapy Counseling from Argosy University in 2016.
